Results of three year study

To be revealed at International Business Brokers Conference
A landmark study on Mid-market Business Broker client relations will be presented at the Semi-Annual International Business Brokers Association (IBBA) Conference Scheduled for the first week in June 1998.

Three years ago the Merger & Acquisition Source, a division of the IBBA, charged a committee lead by William Victor May CBI, President of Stonemark Investment Bankers of Seattle, Washington to study the methods and trends mid-market Intermediaries employ to contract with the buyers and sellers of medium sized and larger businesses.

May undertook a detailed study of reams of individual member engagement agreements, interviewed over 100 Intermediaries and a like number of corporate and investment groups nationwide about the challenge of authoring and enforcing service agreements. Some 200 hours went into completing the work.

From this investigation May has compiled a handbook and videotape presentation entitled "Rules of Engagement" for M&A Professionals. The results of his work will be presented at the International conferences to be held in New Orleans, Louisiana June 5th, 1998.

Jim Afinowich, chairman of IBBA' Education Committee says, "A great deal of time has been invested in this project. I have previewed Bill's work. Members will be astonished at what has been learned and the recommendations he will be making." Over 500 Business Brokers and Intermediaries are expected to attend the conference from Europe, Australia and South America, as well as the US and Canada.

William May is an author of a half dozen books on the subject of buying and selling business enterprises for buyers, sellers, advisors and brokers. He is a frequent speaker and teacher at classes and conferences in the US and Canada. Often referred to as "The dean of American Business Brokers," May is known for presentations that are as entertaining as they are educational.
